How many James Bond books are there?
James Bond is the brainchild of Ian Fleming.
Even though many authors continued writing James Bond books after Ian Fleming but he was the original creator.
Ian Fleming has written 14 James Bond books between 1953 and 1956 of which 12 are novels and 2 are short story collections.
Two books were published posthumously.

Casino Royale
Bond plays against Le Chiffre in a Baccarat game in France. He loses first and then wins with the help of the CIA.
The story goes into a twist when Bond falls in love with the double agent - Vesper Lynd.
The 2006 movie Casino Royale was adapted to a large degree from the book.
Live and Let Die
James Bond is up against Mr. Big who is an underworld voodoo leader and also finances soviet spy operations in the USA. In this novel, the bond girl is Solitaire who is first the girlfriend of Mr. Big.
Moonraker
Bond has to save London from a rocket attack by Hugo Drax who is a former Nazi and is operating with Soviets to attack London.
Diamonds are forever
James Bond has to destroy a diamond smuggling racket operating in America.
He succeeds by eliminating one of the bosses of this ring.
But to completely eliminate the ring he has to kill the other boss too.
From Russia, with Love
SMERSH is planning to assassinate Bond.
Bond meets a cipher who has Skeptor, a Russian decoding device.
An assassin from SMERSH meets bond pretending to be a British agent who then tries to kill Bond but instead Bond kills him.
But there is another member of SMERSH who comes close to killing James Bond.
Dr. No
The head of MI6 Station in Jamaica and his secretary who have been investigating Dr. Julius No mysteriously disappear.
Then Bond is sent to investigate the matter.
Goldfinger
The villain of this novel is a gold smuggler who is suspected to be working for SMERSH.
He forces Bond and makes him work as his secretary overseeing an operation that involves robbing gold from the US gold reserves.
How Bond fails his attempt is fun to read.

This is a collection of short stories written by Ian Fleming, different from his regular full length Bond novels.

The Spy Who Loved me
Two thugs try to rape a woman who works at a motel.
The nasty conspiracy has been concocted by the owner who wants to burn the motel down to get the insurance money.
But Bond interrupts and kills the thugs.

On her Majesty's secret service
Bond is once again after Blofeld who is in Switzerland this time trying to execute his evil plans.
James Bond falls in love with a girl and marries her but his wife is killed by Blofeld soon after the wedding.
You only live twice
Bond is grieving the death of his wife. He is in a pathetic state when M sends him on a mission.
Interestingly, the main antagonist emerges as Blofeld again in this novel.
Bond will kill him this time but he will lose his memory too only to live the life of a Japanese fisherman.
Will he come to know who he really is?
